During Thuh 2022 Juneteenth Film Festival, festival founder Jacob Nadir Gray hosted a conversation between filmmakers, members of the LA Rebellion, and pillars of the Black creative community Charles Burnett, Ben Caldwell, and Alile Sharon Larkin. What follows are detailed recollections of their experiences at UCLA, wisdom and warnings for the new generation of filmmakers, and Burnett’s firsthand tellings of his creative origins as well as the making of his classic Killer of Sheep.
